Consultation
Before embarking on any treatment, we start with a Comprehensive Skin Consultation. In this 1-on-1 session, our dermatology professionals assess your skin’s condition, discuss your concerns, and design a custom treatment plan. The stand-alone consultation (40 min) is perfect if you seek expert advice on skincare or treatment options. If you proceed with a treatment, we often include an introductory treatment (20 min) as part of the initial visit. Benefits: You’ll gain a deeper understanding of your skin and a tailored regime for optimal results. Sessions: Usually just one initial consultation (complimentary in some cases) is needed, after which a treatment schedule is proposed. Downtime: None – this is simply a discussion and analysis session, after which you can immediately continue with your day. We believe an informed patient is an empowered patient, so this step ensures you feel confident and excited to begin your skin transformation journey.
Skin Peels & Facials
Our chemical peels and signature facials rejuvenate the skin by exfoliating dull layers and infusing nourishing ingredients. - Superficial Peel – PRIN Add-On: A gentle 20-minute chemical peel that can be added to enhance any facial (such as the PRIN mask). Conditions: Ideal for dull or rough skin, mild congestion, or simply to boost the results of a facial. Benefits: Immediately brighter and softer skin; helps minimize fine lines and surface pigmentation. Because it’s a superficial peel, it causes little to no visible peeling or downtimecom.au – you might just have a healthy flush for a day. Sessions: Often done in a series of 3–6 peels (spaced ~2–4 weeks apart) for the best cumulative improvement in tone and textureuzuriaesthetics.com, though even one peel can yield a nice glowuzuriaesthetics.com. Downtime: Minimal. It’s excellent for acne-prone skin too – blue LED kills bacteria, while red LED calms redness. Sessions: Combined in the same visit as your peel; a series of these peel+LED treatments can significantly refine and clear the skin over time. - Dermaceutic Professional Peels (Milk Peel, Crystal Peel, Cosmo Peel, Mela Peel Forte): Our clinic also offers a suite of Dermaceutic™ peels, each targeting specific concerns:
- Milk Peel: A gentle superficial peel with a blend of glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acidscom.au. Conditions: Best for fine lines, dull complexion, enlarged pores, oily or mildly acne-prone skinnoosaskinstudio.com.au. It’s even used for keratosis pilaris and superficial pigment irregularitiesnoosaskinstudio.com.au. Benefits: Milk Peel boosts collagen production and restores a radiant, even complexion with little to no actual skin peelingnoosaskinstudio.com.au. It essentially gives you the glow of a peel without downtime – skin may feel slightly tighter and look refreshed immediately. Patients often notice minimized pores and a smoother texture once any light flaking resolves. Sessions: A series of about 3 treatments (spaced 2–4 weeks) is typically recommended for best results, though even one Milk Peel can brighten a tired complexion. Downtime: Very minimal. You might have slight redness for 0–2 days and micro-flaking that is often not visible (just dry feeling)noosaskinstudio.com.au. Normal activities aren’t interrupted; just moisturize and use SPF. This peel’s gentleness makes it a great introductory peel or maintenance between deeper treatments.
- Crystal Peel: A superficial-to-medium depth peel aimed at rejuvenation. It combines effective acids to resurface the skin’s outer layercom.au. Conditions: Excellent for fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars – it supports a smoother, more radiant complexion by polishing the skinnoosaskinstudio.com.au. It’s suitable for all skin types and can be done regularly without lengthy recoverynoosaskinstudio.com.au. Benefits: By removing the damaged top layer, it improves skin clarity, reduces the look of large pores, and evens out discolorationnoosaskinstudio.com.au. It gives a noticeable refinement in texture – think of it as a step up from a light peel but still gentler than a deep resurfacing. Sessions: Often done as a series of 2–4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart for cumulative scar and wrinkle improvement. Because it’s not overly aggressive, some patients incorporate it into their seasonal skincare routine. Downtime: Mild. You may see light peeling or flaking for ~3 days. Redness is usually modest – perhaps like a sun-kissed glow for 1–2 days. Most people return to routine activities easily, just avoiding intense sun and following post-peel care. No “hide at home” period required – this peel has “results minus lengthy recovery” as a key featurenoosaskinstudio.com.au.
- Cosmo Peel (15% TCA): A medium-depth peel using trichloroacetic acid to rejuvenate aging skin. Conditions: Ideal for sun damage, pigment spots, fine lines & wrinkles, uneven texture, and mild skin laxitycom.au. It’s clinically proven to improve signs of aging – essentially turning back the clock on a weathered complexionnoosaskinstudio.com.au. Benefits: Stimulates collagen and elastin production in the dermis, resulting in visibly smoother, firmer, and more even-toned skinnoosaskinstudio.com.au. Notably, this peel achieves outstanding results often after just one treatmentnoosaskinstudio.com.au – patients see significant reduction in lines and pigmentation once healed. And despite being a TCA peel, the formulation is designed to have minimal downtime for the level of result it producesnoosaskinstudio.com.au. Sessions: Many patients get a Cosmo Peel once and are thrilled with the outcome; others with deeper damage might do a second session a few months later. Yearly maintenance peels can help preserve the rejuvenation. Downtime: Moderate. Expect the skin to frost/whiten during application, then look sunburned for a day or two. Peeling typically starts on day 2–3 and can last ~5–7 days (varies by individual). By around one week, most of the old skin has shed to reveal fresh new skin. Redness may linger mildly for another few days in some cases. During recovery, you’ll need to moisturize frequently and avoid sun. Our staff will provide guidance so you feel comfortable and know what to expect. Overall, downtime is manageable and far shorter than traditional deep peels, considering the impressive payoff in skin quality.
- Cosmo Peel 15% – TCA CROSS Add-On: For patients with deep acne scars (icepick scars) or enlarged pores, we offer TCA CROSS as an add-on to the Cosmo Peel. TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars) is a technique where a high-strength TCA drop is applied directly into individual pitted scars to induce collagen remodelingcom.au. Benefit: This intensively targets the depth of icepick scars, helping raise the scar from within by ~20–40% with each sessionnorthsidedermatology.com.au. We perform this after a general peel to specifically improve those hard-to-treat pits. Sessions: Typically 2–4 TCA CROSS sessions are needed (spaced 4+ weeks apart) to significantly plump up indented scarsnorthsidedermatology.com.au. Each time, as collagen fills in, the scars become shallower. Downtime: Locally on each treated scar, you’ll see a small frosted spot that becomes a scab. The scabs fall off in about 5–7 daysnorthsidedermatology.com.au. Surrounding skin might be red for a few daysnorthsidedermatology.com.au, but since the treatment is focal, it’s easily covered with makeup after the first day or two. When combined with a peel, you’d simply follow the peel aftercare (moisturizer, no picking). This add-on accelerates scar improvement dramatically, and because it spares the surrounding skinnorthsidedermatology.com.au, it’s a precise way to renew your skin’s smoothness.
- Mela Peel Forte: A medium-depth peel specifically for stubborn pigmentation like melasma. Conditions: Best for melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and persistent sun damage that has not fully responded to milder peels or topical lightenerscom.au. Benefits: This peel’s advanced formula regulates melanin production at a deep level and resurfaces uneven tone, providing long-lasting reduction in dark patches without the rebound pigmentation that can occur with harsher treatmentsnoosaskinstudio.com.au. It yields a clearer, brighter complexion with an even tone and renewed radiancenoosaskinstudio.com.au. To ensure safety and efficacy, a pre-peel skin prep for 2 weeks is required (using recommended skincare)noosaskinstudio.com.au – this maximizes results and minimizes complications. Sessions: Mela Peel Forte is often done as a series of 3 treatments performed fortnightly (every 2 weeks)noosaskinstudio.com.au, combined with mandated home-care products. This series approach attacks pigment in phases for a comprehensive lightening effect. Downtime: Moderate. You can expect some flaking or peeling a few days after each peel, and possible redness or mild swelling, especially after the first session. Each peel’s recovery might last ~5–7 days of peeling. By the end of the series, most patients see a dramatic reduction in melasma or pigmentation with minimal side effects. Given melasma’s tricky nature, this controlled, physician-supervised peel series is one of the most effective interventions – and patients are thrilled to see their long-standing patches finally fade.
- LED Light Therapy (Stand-alone or Add-On): Our clinic often employs LED phototherapy on its own or to complement other treatments. What it is: LED uses specific light wavelengths (such as red or blue) to confer therapeutic benefits to the skin. Conditions: It’s excellent for acne (blue LED kills acne bacteria), redness and sensitive skin (amber/red LED reduces inflammation), and aging skin (red/infrared LED boosts collagen). Benefits: This painless treatment can reduce inflammation and speed healing, making it a perfect add-on after peels, injectables, or laser sessions to calm redness. Red LED in particular has been shown to stimulate collagen production for younger-looking skinclevelandclinic.org, improve circulation, and even help with pain relief in healing tissues. Blue LED can shrink oil glands slightly and curb breakouts. Sessions: A stand-alone LED photofacial (~20 minutes under the lights) can be done weekly or as needed – there’s no such thing as too much LED, as it’s very gentle. Many patients do a series of LED sessions to help manage acne or give skin a plumper, healthier look. We also include LED at the end of many facials/peels (as noted above) for synergy. Downtime: None. LED is completely non-invasive – no heat, no UV, and no damage. You lie under the relaxing light panels and may even take a nap. After, your skin might look immediately calmer and have a slight glow. There’s no aftercare needed except to wear SPF if you’re heading outdoors (as always). LED therapy is a safe, soothing way to energize your skin cells – often described as “charging up your skin’s batteries” for improved function.
- Tensage™ 40 Growth Factor Booster (Add-On): This is an intensive serum ampoule we can apply during facials or microneedling to jump-start skin repair and rejuvenation. It contains SCA Biorepair growth factor – a clinically proven extract from snail secretion – at a high strength of 40. Conditions: Ideal for aging skin, dull or weak skin, or post-procedure healing. We often recommend it after peels, laser, or as a series for those wanting an extra anti-aging boost. Benefits: Growth factors in Tensage® help signal your skin to produce collagen and elastin. The result is improved skin elasticity, reduction in fine lines, smoother texture, and a luminous glowcom. In fact, studies show significant improvement in wrinkles, tone, and radiance when using these growth factor serumsamazon.com. Applying the booster in-office drives it deeper (especially if paired with microneedling or post-peel when absorption is highest). Sessions: It can be a one-time add-on for a nourishment boost, or done as a series of 3 weekly boosters for more notable skin improvement. Many patients also take home additional vials to use over a week (we guide you on this) for sustained benefits. Downtime: None. This is just a topical application – you might feel a slight tingle upon application, but it absorbs quickly and leaves a hydrated finish. It’s a luxurious finish to a treatment, essentially bathing your skin in rejuvenating “youth proteins.” Over the next days, your skin can look more radiant and feel firmer as the growth factors do their magic. If you’re seeking a truly aspirational, cutting-edge add-on, Tensage 40 is a favorite for that extra “wow” factor.

Laser Pigmentation & Tattoo Removal (Fotona QX MAX)
For stubborn pigmentation issues and unwanted tattoos, we offer advanced laser treatments with the Fotona QX MAX – one of the most powerful Q-switched laser systems availablelohcelineskinspecialist.com. This laser delivers ultra-short bursts of energy that shatter pigmentation and tattoo ink into tiny particles, which are then cleared by your body’s immune systemlohcelineskinspecialist.com. The treatments are precise and target only the unwanted pigment, leaving surrounding skin intactlohcelineskinspecialist.com. Here are the pigmentation-focused laser options and tattoo removal services we provide:
- Laser Toning (1064 nm Nd:YAG): This is a gentle, full-face laser treatment using Q-switched Nd:YAG at 1064 nm to address diffuse pigmentation, melasma, and overall skin tone unevenness. It penetrates deep to break up excess melanin without ablating the skin. Conditions: Ideal for melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (like dark marks from acne), or general dullness. It’s very safe on darker skin types as well. Benefits: With a series of sessions, melasma patches and sun-induced pigmentation gradually lighten as the pigment breaks apart and fadescom. Patients also notice improved skin texture and a mild tightening effect thanks to the laser’s thermal stimulation in deeper skin. The overall complexion becomes clearer and more even, giving a brightness often described as a “laser glow.” Sessions: Melasma and similar conditions typically require a series – usually around 6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apartlohcelineskinspecialist.com. Each treatment yields incremental improvementlohcelineskinspecialist.com; after the full series, melasma can be 50-90% reduced (results vary, and maintenance sessions may be needed for chronic melasma). Downtime: Minimal to none. Laser toning is nicknamed the “lunchtime laser” in Asia because you can go right back to work. You might have mild redness or a bit of a “coffee ground” darkening of certain spots after treatment – pigment sometimes temporarily darkens as it’s lifted (especially in freckles)lohcelineskinspecialist.com. For melasma, often you just experience a warmth and maybe slight pinkness. Any darkened spots or tiny micro-crusting will flake off within 1–2 weeks, revealing lighter skinlohcelineskinspecialist.com. Importantly, the treatment is generally very comfortable (just a snapping sensation) and does not break the skin, so infection or major peeling isn’t an issue. You will need to use diligent sun protection between sessions to prevent new pigmentation. Laser toning is especially encouraging for melasma sufferers, as it’s an effective approach where creams often fall shorttheskininstitute.com. Our patients have been thrilled to finally see their stubborn pigmentation disperse with this advanced laser protocol.
- Combination Laser Brightening (1064 nm + 532 nm) – “Angel Skin Brightening”: This treatment, sometimes referred to as Angel Brightening or Angel Whitening Laser, uses both Q-switched wavelengths (1064 nm and 532 nm) in a multi-step approach for ultimate skin brightening. Conditions: Best for those with mixed pigmentation issues (both superficial brown spots/freckles and deeper pigmentation) or anyone desiring an overall lighter, clearer complexion. It’s also a fantastic maintenance laser facial to keep skin tone even and prevent new pigment. Benefits: The 532 nm laser targets superficial pigmentation like sun spots, freckles, and epidermal melasma, causing them to fragment and later shed offcom. The 1064 nm laser penetrates deeper to address dermal pigment and stimulate collagen. The result is a brighter, more luminous skin tone with reduced spots and discolorationbalabalalaserclinic.combalabalalaserclinic.com. Uniquely, our Angel Brightening protocol doesn’t just stop at removing pigment – it also improves skin texture and redness and even gives a light laser peel as a finishing touchbalabalalaserclinic.com. Fotona’s system allows us to finish with a gentle micro-laser peel that “polishes” the skin, leaving you with a porcelain-like glowbalabalalaserclinic.com. All of this is achieved with little to no downtime, as the energy is delivered in controlled, brief pulses. Many patients report that within a week, their freckles or spots have faded significantly and their whole face looks more radiant. Sessions: We typically recommend 3 sessions about 4 weeks apart for optimal brighteningbalabalalaserclinic.combalabalalaserclinic.com. Some lighter freckles may clear even after one session, but deeper pigment and melasma respond best to multiple treatments. Packages of 3–6 are available. Downtime: Low. Similar to laser toning, you might see certain spots turn slightly darker or form tiny scabs after treatment (especially true for freckles or sunspots – they often look like coffee grounds as they come to the surface)lohcelineskinspecialist.com. This is a good sign the pigment is being lifted, and those bits will flake off roughly 5–7 days later. Redness is typically mild and lasts only a few hours to a day. There’s usually no swelling. Most people can go out in public the next day without it being obvious you had a laser (just wear SPF to protect the fresh skin). Experience: Patients often remark how comprehensive this laser feels – it’s tackling so many aspects of their skin in one go. After completing the series, the skin not only has fewer dark marks, but it’s also tighter, smoother, and more radiant. It truly lives up to its “angel skin” name by revealing a beautifully even and glowing complexion.
- Targeted Laser Spot Removal: If you have just a few isolated pigment spots – like a stubborn age spot, sun spot, or post-acne mark – we can perform focused Q-switched laser treatment on those areas. Conditions: Ideal for individual brown spots on the face, hands, or body (e.g. liver spots), or small pigmented lesions like café-au-lait spots or certain birthmarks. Benefits: The laser’s short pulses will selectively break down the excess melanin in the dark spot, causing it to darken and form a micro-crust that falls off within about a weekcom. After healing, the spot is significantly lighter or completely gone. We can achieve dramatic spot removal often in 1–3 sessions (depends on the spot’s depth; deeper ones may require a couple of hits). Sessions: Many small spots clear with just a single treatment. If any pigment remains, we repeat on that spot after 6–8 weeks. For slightly larger or denser lesions, 2–3 treatments may be needed. Downtime: Local and short-term. The treated spots will usually appear darker and “peppered” right after laser (almost like speckles of pepper; this is the shattered pigment)lohcelineskinspecialist.com. Within a day, they may crust. Do not pick them – they should fall off naturally in 7–10 days. During this week, you can cover them with makeup if needed. The area around may be a bit pink. Overall, it’s a minor cosmetic inconvenience for a few days in exchange for banishing a spot that bothered you for years! Normal activities can continue; just avoid intense sun on those spots as they heal. This straightforward procedure is extremely satisfying – that obvious dark spot will either be completely gone or significantly reduced once the crust comes off, revealing clearer skin.
- Body Pigmentation Removal (per area): Pigmentation isn’t limited to the face – many clients have sun spots on their hands, arms, chest (décolletage), or shoulders, etc. We offer Q-switched laser treatments for the body as well, priced per area. Conditions: Commonly used for sun-damaged hands (to remove age spots and rejuvenate the hands), chest pigmentation (freckles or mottling from sun), or spots on the back and arms. Benefits: The process is similar to facial spot removal – the QX MAX laser breaks up pigment in the targeted area, and over the following days the pigmented spots will darken and slough off. An area like both hands can be treated in about 20–30 minutes. After a session or two, your hands or treated area will look noticeably more even-toned and youthful, free of the peppered brown spots that betray age. Sessions: Often 1–2 sessions suffice for lighter sun spots. More extensive sun damage may require 3 sessions. We space them ~4 weeks apart. Downtime: Slightly more noticeable on some body areas only because you might have multiple spots crusting simultaneously (e.g. if treating many freckles on the chest). Expect the spots to darken for 5–7 days and then flake off, just as with the face. The chest skin can be a bit more sensitive, so mild redness or dryness might linger up to a week. Hands typically heal fast. Again, moisturize and protect from sun. There’s minimal interference with daily life – you can easily conceal the area if desired. In the end, patients are delighted to see their “sun map” of spots erased, with smooth, clear skin shining through.
- Laser Tattoo Removal (Q-switched 1064/532 nm): Unwanted tattoo? Our Fotona QX MAX laser is equipped to remove a wide spectrum of tattoo ink colors using its multiple wavelengths and high power. What it does: The Q-switched laser emits ultra-short pulses that photoacoustically break ink particles into tiny fragments. Over the weeks after treatment, your body’s immune cells clear away those fragments, causing the tattoo to gradually fade. Tattoo colors: The 1064 nm wavelength is excellent for black, dark blue, and other dark inks, while the 532 nm (a KTP frequency-doubled Nd:YAG) targets brighter inks like red, orange, some yellows. Our system can also address greens and sky blues by using additional dye handpieces – the QX MAX is a versatile platform known to effectively treat multi-colored tattooscomfotona-smooth.com. Benefits: Laser removal is the gold standard for tattoo fading/removal – it’s non-invasive (no cutting) and can achieve high clearance of ink with minimal risk of scarring when done correctly. The QX MAX in particular is renowned for being the most advanced Q-switched laser, delivering high energy for tough inks and removing even complex, multi-color tattoos effectivelyfotona-smooth.comlohcelineskinspecialist.com. Over a series of sessions, you’ll see your tattoo lose its vibrancy, then significantly fade. In many cases, tattoos can be removed to the point where they’re barely noticeable or gone. Sessions: Tattoo removal is a process. The number of sessions needed depends on factors like the tattoo’s size, depth, colors, and age. Professional tattoos with lots of ink may need anywhere from 6 to 10+ sessions, spaced about 6–8 weeks apart (sometimes longer for body to clear). Simpler amateur tattoos or small ones might clear in ~4–5 sessions. During your consult, we’ll estimate based on our experience. It’s important to be patient and consistent with sessions for best results – you’ll see progressive lightening after each. Downtime: Moderate, localized. Right after a laser session, the tattoo will frosting (turn white) briefly and the area can swell and feel like sunburn. Within hours, that subsides into possibly some redness, mild blistering or scabbing (very normal). The area is essentially a controlled superficial wound, and we’ll apply ointment and dressing. Typically, healing takes about 7–14 days for the skin to fully recover from each session. Blisters, if any, form in the first day and should not be popped (they protect the skin beneath). They dry into scabs and then fall away. We provide aftercare instructions (gentle cleaning, ointment, covering if needed). Pain is usually mild after (similar to a scrape). Between sessions, the tattoo ink particles are being disposed of by your body – you might notice the tattoo looks patchy or flakes of ink coming off with scabs. Avoid sun on the area as it heals. Over the weeks, the tattoo will steadily fadelohcelineskinspecialist.com, and each subsequent treatment will target the remaining ink. The side effects to watch are temporary changes in skin pigment – some people get lightening or darkening of the skin in the treated area, but this usually normalizes in months. Scarring is rare with proper technique and care. Our laser practitioners are highly skilled and will use the appropriate settings to minimize risks. With each session, you’re one step closer to clearing that ink – and many clients say it’s incredibly liberating to watch an old tattoo (that perhaps no longer represents them) disappear. Laser Skin Rejuvenation & Tightening (Fotona SP Dynamis)
As we age or deal with various skin concerns, sometimes we need a high-tech boost to restore youthful firmness and smoothness. Our Fotona SP Dynamis laser system enables a range of non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments that can tighten, lift, and resurface the skin – delivering results previously possible only with more invasive procedures. These treatments are often nicknamed “laser facelifts” or “laser collagen boosters.” The hallmark protocol is Fotona4D®, a cutting-edge combination therapy using two laser wavelengths (Nd:YAG and Er:YAG) in four synergistic stepsfotona.com. We offer Fotona 4D and its variations, as well as focused laser treatments for eyes, lips, and overall tightening. The beauty of these therapies is that they achieve significant improvements in wrinkles, laxity, and texture with little or no downtime and no needles or surgeryfotona.com.
- Fotona 4D Laser Facelift: This is our premium non-surgical facelift procedure. Fotona4D involves four sequential treatments in one session, each targeting different “dimensions” of skin rejuvenationcom:
- SmoothLiftin™ (Intraoral Tightening): The session begins inside your mouth. We apply the Er:YAG laser to the inner cheeks and lips, which heats and stimulates collagen in the nasolabial fold area (smile lines) and around the mouth from within. This step plumps the tissue and kick-starts a tightening effect from the inside out, naturally volumizing the lip and mouth area (it’s like a laser alternative to fillers for smile lines). Patients feel warmth inside but it’s very tolerable.
- FRAC3® (Fractional Rejuvenation): Next, we treat the skin externally with Nd:YAG in a fractional mode that targets deeper imperfections – for example, microscopic pigmented spots, vascular components, or acne remnantscom. FRAC3 creates a 3D lattice of tiny injury points beneath the surface (without ablating skin) to stimulate collagen and break up minor flaws. This helps improve background redness, small pigmented spots, fine lines and scars – it’s a comprehensive rejuvenation pass.
- PIANO® (Deep Heating Tightening): Then we deliver long-pulse Nd:YAG laser in brushing strokes across the skin. This safely bulk-heats the dermis from the outside incom, causing collagen fibers to contract and kickstarting new collagen production for overall tighteningwellnessobgyn.comdrtorgerson.com. The PIANO mode is named for its gentle, slow heating (we continuously move the laser like “playing piano” on the skin). It reaches deep skin layers without damaging the surface, so it tightens jowls, cheeks, and even underlying fat with zero surface injuryfotona.com. Patients feel a warm sensation as if soaking in a warm bath.
- SupErficial™ (Light Laser Peel): Finally, we perform a gentle, cold Er:YAG laser peel to polish the skin’s surface (often called a “laser micropeel”). This removes a very thin layer of dead/dull skin to instantly improve texture and brighten the complexioncom. It’s adjusted to be mild, usually resulting in just a day or two of mild flaking at most. This final step gives that extra radiance and smooth finish to the skin.
- Conditions: Fotona 4D is perfect for those noticing skin laxity (sagging cheeks, jawline, slight jowls), wrinkles (around mouth, cheeks, eyes), loss of volume (nasolabial folds), and uneven texture or tone – essentially the signs of aging – but who are not ready or willing to undergo surgery or fillers. It’s also a fantastic preventive anti-aging treatment in one’s 30s-50s to stimulate collagen before significant sagging occurs. Benefits: Because it addresses multiple layers, the benefits are comprehensive. You can expect skin tightening and lifting (due to collagen contraction and new collagen in deeper layers), nasolabial folds and marionette lines becoming less pronounced (due to plumping from inside)com, improvement in skin texture, pore size, and fine lines (thanks to FRAC3 and the peel), and a brighter, more even complexion with a healthy glow. Many patients notice an immediate mild tightening and glow right after the procedure (especially the next day once any redness subsides), and then more significant results develop gradually over 2–3 months as collagen rebuilds. Clinical studies show full-thickness collagen contraction from 4D leads to persistent tightening and volumization without injectablesfotona.com. In short, this treatment rejuvenates the face in a very natural way – you’ll look like a fresher, younger version of yourself without any obvious signs you had “work done.” And all of this occurs without surgery, needles, or anesthesiafotona.com.
Sessions: Some patients achieve their desired result with just one Fotona4D session, especially if signs of aging are mild to moderate. However, for optimal and longer-lasting results, a series of 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is commonly recommended. Improvements build with each treatment. Many of our clients then do a maintenance session once or twice a year to keep stimulating collagen. (For example, some do an initial 3 sessions, then one booster every 6–12 months.) During your consultation, we will assess your skin laxity and goals to tailor the plan. Downtime: Minimal. One of the biggest advantages of Fotona4D is that it involves little to no downtime given how comprehensive it is. After treatment, you might experience some redness for a day or two, similar to a mild sunburn, and possibly very mild swelling in treated areas (often barely noticeable). The inside-of-mouth treatment can cause a hint of soreness (like you drank something hot), but that resolves quickly. The final laser peel may result in a few days of faint flakiness or a sandpaper feel on the skin. Most patients find they can go to work the next day with just some slight redness that makeup can easily cover. There’s no rawness or significant peeling. You should avoid strenuous exercise or saunas for about 48 hours and of course wear good SPF daily. Because there’s no bruising or injections, people just think you got a light facial if anything. Results timeline: Minor instant tightening is often felt, but the magic is in the collagen remodeling over weeks. Many notice their skin getting progressively firmer and bouncier over 2–3 months, with wrinkles softening. Given the minimal downtime and needle-free approach, the Fotona4D laser facelift is truly an aspirational treatment – you can have a lifting and rejuvenation effect without the recovery and risks of surgery. It’s a patient favorite for its natural yet noticeable resultsfotona.comfotona.com.
- Fotona 4D+ (Face + Lip or Eye) and 4D++ (Face + Lip & Eye): We offer enhanced versions of the standard 4D protocol to specifically target two delicate areas: the lips and the eyes. In 4D+, we include an extra laser treatment for either the lips (LipLase®) or the eye area (SmoothEye®), and in 4D++ we do both. This is great for patients who want full-face rejuvenation plus maximum improvement in those focused areas:
- LipLase (laser lip plumping) is a non-invasive laser treatment to enhance lip fullness and smoothness – described in detail below. Incorporated into the 4D session, it gives even more volumization to the lips and fine line reduction around the mouth.
- SmoothEye (laser eyelid tightening) targets the periocular region (upper and lower lids, crow’s feet) – also detailed below. Adding this to 4D intensifies wrinkle reduction and skin tightening around the eyes.
- By combining these, 4D++ truly treats the face, eyes, and lips all in one session – a comprehensive head-to-toe (or rather, hairline-to-chin) rejuvenation. Benefits: You get all the advantages of Fotona4D for the face, plus: plumper youthful lips and firmer eyelids with fewer wrinkles. It’s a fantastic option for those noticing early eyelid laxity or lip lines along with overall facial aging. Sessions: Similar to 4D, usually 1–3 sessions. If your primary concern is eyes or lips specifically, doing a couple of these enhanced sessions ensures those areas get extra attention each time. Downtime: Remains minimal – adding the LipLase and SmoothEye doesn’t significantly change downtime, since they’re non-ablative treatments. Lips might have temporary swelling or dryness for a day; eyelids could be a bit pink for a day. Both settle quickly. Essentially, you might look like you had a good cry (slightly puffy eyes) and lightly sun-kissed lips for 24 hours, but not much more. The synergy of treating all these areas in one go is that you recover all at once and emerge looking completely refreshed everywhere! If you’re looking for the ultimate laser facial, 4D++ is the way to go.
- Fotona 3D Rejuvenation: This is a shortened protocol using three of the 4D steps instead of four. It’s customizable, but generally 3D might skip the intraoral step or the superficial peel – focusing on bulk heating and fractional rejuvenation. For example, sometimes we do SmoothLiftin + FRAC3 + PIANO (skip peel) for someone who wants tightening and deep collagen boost but no peeling whatsoever, or FRAC3 + PIANO + SupErficial (skip intraoral) for someone who wants external rejuvenation but isn’t concerned about nasolabial volume. Conditions: Good for patients who want significant tightening and texture improvement but either don’t need the inside-mouth step or want absolutely zero flaking. It’s also a bit shorter appointment (~40 minutes). Benefits: 3D still provides multi-layer treatment – you’ll get collagen stimulation in the dermis (through PIANO deep heating) and fractional improvement of imperfections (FRAC3), plus possibly a light polish or the internal lift depending on which 3 steps are used. The benefits are therefore similar to 4D, just slightly less comprehensive. It’s perfect as a maintenance treatment for someone who already did 4D, or for younger patients (30s) who may not need the full 4D yet. Sessions: 1–3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart, or even as an ongoing quarterly anti-aging laser facial. Downtime: None to minimal. If no peel is done, downtime is basically zero – just some redness from the heating that resolves in hours. If the peel is included as one of the steps, then a day or two of micro-peeling might occur. Either way, 3D is very easy recovery. It offers a nice “laser refresh” when you want a bit more than a basic facial but not as much as a full ablative laser.
- SmoothEye® (Non-surgical Eye Lift): SmoothEye is a specialized eye rejuvenation laser treatment using Fotona’s Er:YAG in a smooth, non-ablative mode around the eyes. Conditions: It’s designed for loose, crepey eyelid skin, fine lines around the eyes, crow’s feet, and even under-eye bags or slight hooding of the upper lids. It’s an excellent option if you’re noticing your eyelids are not as firm as before or if makeup is creasing in new fine lines. How it works: The laser is applied in a circular pattern on both the lower and upper eyelids, extending to the crow’s feet, delivering gentle heat into the dermis. This tightens existing collagen and triggers new collagen remodeling in the thin eyelid skin, without actually ablating the surfacecom. Because eyelid skin is delicate, SmoothEye is carefully calibrated to improve firmness safely. Benefits: SmoothEye produces a noticeable tightening of lax skin on the eyelids and around the eyesfotona.com, leading to a more open, refreshed eye appearance. Fine lines (the crêpe-like texture or “crepey” skin) are reduced as collagen fills them in over timefotona.com. Patients often see reduction in hooding – some who were considering an upper blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery) can postpone it, as SmoothEye can lift the eyelid to a degree by restoring elasticity. It also helps fade periorbital fine wrinkles and can slightly improve dark circles by thickening the skin (though it’s not primarily a pigment treatment, improved skin quality can make dark circles less prominent). Overall, your eyes look youthfully rested. And importantly, all this is achieved without cutting or lasers that remove skin – SmoothEye is entirely non-ablativefotona.com. Sessions: Typically a course of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal resultsepsomskinclinics.comwomenshealthofmd.com. Each session incrementally tightens and improves the eye area. After the series, many patients do a maintenance session once a year to keep stimulating collagen. Some minor improvement can often be seen even a couple weeks after the first session (skin feels firmer), but the big changes come as collagen builds with successive treatments. Downtime: Little to none. You will have some redness around the eyes for perhaps 1–2 daysfotona.com, and a sensation of warmth. The area might get slightly puffy, as if you had a good cry or a mild sunburn on the lids. These effects are usually mild and subside quicklyvirdenmd.com (cold compresses for a short time after can reduce initial swelling). There’s usually no peeling, since it’s non-ablative – at most a bit of dry skin. We advise avoiding eye makeup for a day or two simply to keep the area clean. Most people comfortably resume normal activities the next day. Because the eye area heals fast and isn’t very vascular, downtime is really quite minimal. Considering that eyelid surgery can have 1–2 weeks of bruising, SmoothEye’s no-downtime approach is very attractive. It’s safe for all skin tones too. If you’ve been bothered by crepey eyelids or crow’s feet but aren’t ready for surgery, SmoothEye offers a gentle, effective solution to rejuvenate your gazeplstk.com. Your eyes will look brighter and more youthful, all without a scalpel!
- LipLase® (Laser Lip Plumping): LipLase is a novel laser treatment to naturally plump and smooth the lips without fillers or injectionscomchiaesthetics.com. Conditions: Great for anyone with thinning lips, smoker’s lines (vertical lip lines), or who desires more lip volume but prefers a needle-free option. It’s also used to just improve lip texture and color – as we age, lips lose collagen and can become dry and wrinkled; LipLase reverses some of that. How it works: We use the Er:YAG laser in two ways – intraorally (inside the mouth) and on the external lip surfacefotona.com. First, the inside (mucosal) treatment heats and stimulates collagen in the lip body (similar to SmoothLiftin in 4D), causing a gentle plumping eversion of the lip outwardfotona.com. Then we laser the outer lips and vermillion border in a fractional pattern to trigger collagen remodeling and smooth fine lines around the mouthfotona.com. The laser energy is delivered in SMOOTH mode, which is non-ablative thermal pulses – so it does not create open wounds, it just tightens and induces collagen synthesis in the lipsfotona.comfotona.com. Benefits: This treatment stimulates your own collagen production in the lips, so over a series of sessions, you develop fuller, more defined lips graduallyfotona.comfotona.com. You can expect an enhanced lip volume and shape – many patients notice their cupid’s bow is more pronounced and lips appear slightly rosy and youthful. Fine lines on the lips and around them (those pesky smoker’s lines) are reduced as new collagen fills them in. The result is subtle but natural – a soft, volumized look without anything artificialfotona.com. Your lips won’t suddenly be huge after one session, but they will feel firmer and look smoother. After a full course, some patients achieve about 20–30% increase in lip volume. It’s particularly great for those who want lip rejuvenation but do not want or cannot have dermal filler. Sessions: A full treatment course is 4 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apartfotona.com. Each session builds on the last. Improvement is usually gradual; many see a nice difference after the third or fourth session. After the initial series, maintenance can be one session every 6–12 months to keep collagen stimulated. Each session is quick (~15–20 minutes). Downtime: Minimal. Immediately after, lips will be a bit swollen (which you might actually enjoy as a preview of the plumpness!) and can be slightly sensitive, as if you sipped a very hot drink. This transient swelling typically lasts only 1–2 days at most. You may also have some dryness or mild peeling of the lips for a couple of days as the outer skin renews – we recommend keeping them well moisturized (a good lip balm or even Vaseline). There’s no bruising (unlike filler sometimes) and no risk of lumps. You can go back to normal life right away; just avoid very hot foods/drinks for the rest of the day and keep the area clean. Many patients do notice the immediate swelling effect and love it – though it will subside, over sessions the baseline volume of your lips will increase. LipLase has nothing artificial – it’s your collagen, just more of it, which is why the look is so naturalfotona.com. If you’ve been curious about fuller lips but hesitant about injectables, this is an excellent, gentle alternative to discuss with us.
- Intraoral Laser (SmoothLiftin) – Stand-alone: We also offer the inside-the-mouth laser tightening as a focused treatment by itself. This is essentially the first step of the 4D, done alone. Conditions: It’s great for those who specifically want to target nasolabial folds, mouth wrinkles, or achieve a mild mid-face lift but don’t have other skin issues. Also popular if someone wants improvement around the mouth but cannot have fillers or wants a very natural approach. Benefits: By delivering laser inside the oral cavity, we induce collagen contraction and new collagen in the cheek pads and smile lines area, which leads to plumping of nasolabial lines and tightening of the mouth corners from the insidecom.au. Over a few sessions, patients see that their laugh lines are not as deep and the midface looks subtly lifted and firmer. Think of it as “laser filler” – not instant like actual fillers, but a gentle volumization over time. It also has a side benefit of improving oral mucosa health and sometimes snoring (as it tightens loose tissue in the oral cavity). Sessions: Usually done in a series of 2–3 sessions (monthly). Each session is quick (~20 minutes). Many patients combine this with other treatments (like a peel or LED on the outside) since it has no downtime. Downtime: None. The inside of your mouth might feel warm and a bit odd for an hour after, but there’s no visible sign on your face that anything was done. You can eat and drink normally right after (room temperature, not extremely hot foods for the rest of day). This is truly a “secret” anti-aging trick – no one will know you did it, but you’ll start to notice a softer nasolabial crease and a nicer curve to your cheeks in the mirror. We often recommend this to patients in their late 30s or 40s as prevention or early correction for laugh lines, or to those in their 50s+ who want more improvement around the mouth but as a complement or alternative to dermal fillers.
- Patterned Laser Peel (Light & Medium): These are fractional laser resurfacing treatments using the Fotona SP Dynamis, but at light or medium settings, and delivered in a patterned fractional manner (covering a percentage of the skin in a grid). They are akin to lighter versions of full laser resurfacing (which we discuss in the next section) – enough to refresh the skin’s surface and address fine lines, but not as aggressive as a deep ablative peel. We offer two strengths:
- Light Patterned Laser Peel: A gentle fractional laser peel that removes a very thin outer layer of skin and stimulates collagen in the upper dermis. Conditions: Ideal for fine lines, early sun damage, mild acne scars, or simply dull texture. It’s a step above a chemical peel in effect, but with still minimal downtime. Benefits: This treatment reveals fresh, smooth skin with improved tone – you’ll notice smaller pores, a reduction in fine creases, and a nice glow once healed. It’s great for giving the skin a “reset” after a period of stress or environmental damage. It also works well to blend uneven pigmentation. Sessions: Often even one session provides a noticeable improvement in texture and radiance (it’s a popular pre-event procedure if you have about a week to recover). However, for issues like acne scars, a series of 2–3 light laser peels spaced ~1 month apart can gradually achieve more correction. Downtime: Short (a long weekend). Because it’s a light peel, downtime is on the order of 3–4 days of redness and flaking. Typically: Day 1 your face is red like a sunburn. Days 2–3 you may have prominent redness and some peeling – kind of like after a strong sunburn, you shed tiny flakescom. By Day 4 or 5, most peeling is done, and you can cover any residual pinkness with makeup. Redness usually fades greatly by Day 5. We guide you on moisturizers and gentle cleansing during this time. There is usually no bleeding or oozing – it’s not that deep. Many patients do a light laser peel on a Thursday or Friday and are back to work by Monday with perhaps minimal concealer. The results in a week’s time are quite rewarding: your skin looks refined, clear, and youthful, as if you literally peeled a dull layer away.
- Medium Patterned Laser Peel: A stronger fractional resurfacing that goes a bit deeper to address moderate wrinkles, more pronounced sun damage, or acne scarring. Conditions: Good for those who have etched lines (like around the eyes or mouth), rough texture, or noticeable pigment unevenness and want a more significant improvement but still wish to avoid the downtime of a fully ablative deep laser. Benefits: This medium peel will significantly smooth the skin’s surface – wrinkles become softer, pigmentation patches lighten, and scars look shallower. It also tightens the skin mildly because of heat delivered to the dermis. Patients often remark that their skin looks “5 years younger” after a medium laser peel once healed. Sessions: Some may do just one session and get a great result. Others, especially for acne scars or deeper wrinkles, might plan on 2 sessions spaced 2–3 months apart. (We wouldn’t do them too close together to allow full collagen regeneration between). Downtime: Moderate (about 5–7 days). This is a bit more intense: expect redness, swelling, and peeling. Right after treatment, skin is quite red and maybe a bit swollen (especially under eyes or around mouth). Over the next 2 days, the redness persists (you’ll want to stay home or only do light activities). By day 3 or 4, peeling starts – you’ll have visible sheets of skin coming off or a bronzed, crackled appearance that exfoliates offcom. By day 5–6, peeling should be mostly done, leaving fresh pink skin. By one week, many people are comfortable going out with makeup over a mild pink tone. The entire downtime is typically under 7 days for mostrejuvn8.com. Compared to a full CO2 laser (often 10-14 days downtime), this is shorter. We provide a healing kit and instructions to ensure you recover as quickly as possible. It’s crucial to avoid sun during healing and use SPF after. The payoff is a notable renewal of your skin. Patients often say the result was “worth a week of hiding” – especially when they see wrinkles reduced and scars that bothered them vastly improved. If you have a vacation or remote work week to spare, a medium laser peel can be a game-changer for your skin’s appearance.
(Note: If you require deeper resurfacing for severe wrinkles or scarring, see the Laser Skin Resurfacing section. But many times starting with a Light or Medium patterned peel is sufficient for moderate concerns and involves less downtime.)
- FRAC3 + PIANO Combination (Non-Ablative 2D Rejuvenation): This treatment pairs Fotona’s two unique Nd:YAG modes – FRAC3 and PIANO – to provide a comprehensive skin rejuvenation without any peeling or ablation. We sometimes refer to it as a “2D” treatment (since Fotona calls it 2D when two modalities are used) or simply Laser Skin Tightening & Rejuvenation combo. Conditions: Ideal for early aging signs, those with busy lifestyles who cannot afford downtime, and issues like general laxity, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven tone – essentially a global rejuvenation for someone who wants refreshment with zero recovery. Also beneficial for active acne or rosacea as FRAC3 can target inflammation and PIANO can reduce sebaceous activity slightly. Benefits:
- The FRAC3 part of the treatment creates a fractional effect internally, reducing imperfections such as pigmented spots, tiny vascular lesions, or textural irregularities by selectively heating those problem areas in the skincomdrtorgerson.com. Over a series of treatments, patients see more even skin tone, less pigmentation and redness, and a reduction in fine lines and even scars (FRAC3 has been shown to help atrophic acne scars and stimulate collagen to improve wrinklesdrtorgerson.com).
- The PIANO part bulk-heats the skin to induce tightening – it stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, improving elasticitycomdrtorgerson.com. Over time, this leads to firmer skin with reduced laxity and fewer fine wrinkles, as well as a smoother surface and smaller pore appearance (collagen remodeling helps “shrink” pore size and improve skin texture). PIANO mode effectively treats early sagging in a very safe way – it’s even used on body areas to tighten skin.
- When combined in one session, FRAC3 + PIANO addresses both skin texture/tone and skin tightness. It’s like a super-charged laser facial: your complexion improves and your face subtly lifts. Importantly, all of this is done without breaking the skin, so there’s no peeling at all. Sessions: We recommend a series of about 4–6 treatments, typically 2–4 weeks apartcomdrtorgerson.com. Because the changes are gradual, multiple sessions yield the best result – usually by the third treatment patients note their skin is smoother, pores are finer, and their face is feeling firmer. This series can be done a few times a year or as needed. Some clients do it as an ongoing monthly maintenance for constantly radiant skin. Each session is quick (30–45 minutes) and comfortable (you feel a warming sensation). Downtime: None. After each FRAC3+PIANO session, you may have a bit of redness for an hour or so. Occasionally, if we target a specific sun spot with FRAC3, that spot may darken slightly for a few days (similar to spot treatment described earlier). Generally, though, there is no visible downtime – you can resume work or social activities immediately. It’s common that nobody knows you had a laser done – except that over weeks they might comment how great your skin looks. This combination is truly a lunchtime procedure with outsized benefits. Think of it as investing in your skin’s future: you’re building collagen reserves which reduces wrinkles and sagging from the inside outdrtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com, and you’re erasing subtle flaws. All with zero interference in your life. If you want to keep your skin in top shape or give it a healthy reboot with no downtime, FRAC3+PIANO is an excellent choice – your skin will thank you with a youthful, smooth glow.
- FRAC3 Focus (Standalone): We can perform the FRAC3 fractional non-ablative treatment on its own for targeted rejuvenation. Conditions: Good for addressing specific problem areas like regions of acne scarring, pigmented patches, or overall skin quality in those who can’t have downtime. For example, someone with scattered acne scars or persistent redness can benefit from FRAC3 alone. Benefits: FRAC3 will remodel the skin in a three-dimensional pattern, meaning it hones in on damaged areas and kickstarts repaircom. It helps with reducing acne scars (atrophic scars fill in as collagen is produced)drtorgerson.com, smoothing fine wrinkles (by dermal collagen induction)drtorgerson.com, and lightening PIH or small pigmented lesionsdrtorgerson.com. Over a course of treatments, patients observe their skin getting uniformly smoother and clearer. It’s a gentler approach than aggressive resurfacing, suitable for those with sensitive skin or higher Fitzpatrick skin types where ablative lasers might pose a risk. Sessions: Typically 4–6 sessions (e.g. weekly or biweekly) are needed to see significant improvementsdrtorgerson.com. Because each treatment’s effect is subtle, the magic is in the repetition – each session builds more collagen and refines the skin further. Downtime: None. FRAC3 by itself leaves no immediate marks aside from a bit of redness. It’s completely non-ablative, so you won’t peel or scab. Makeup can be worn later the same day. It’s even gentler than something like IPL in terms of after-effects. You just need to be consistent and patient for the results to unfold over the weeks. If you’re someone who absolutely cannot have downtime but wants noticeable skin improvement over time, a FRAC3 regimen is a fantastic option. It’s like coaxing your skin to rebuild itself stronger and clearer, slowly but surely.
- PIANO Skin Tightening (Standalone): We also provide PIANO-mode treatments alone as a quick skin tightening laser session. Conditions: This is great for mild skin laxity on the face or even body (neck, arms), or for maintenance in between other treatments. Younger clients starting to see a bit of sag can use PIANO to prevent further laxity. It’s also used postpartum for abdomen skin tightening or on arms for firmness. On the face, it’s perfect for the jawline, cheeks, and under-chin area to combat the earliest jowls. Benefits: The PIANO mode delivers full-thickness bulk heating of the dermis which stimulates intense collagen remodeling and a bit of fat metabolism as wellcomambiancemd.com. Over a series of treatments, patients will notice tighter, firmer skin and a reduction in fine lines and pores (as increased collagen thickens the skin)drtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com. It’s like a laser version of a skin workout – each session tones the skin a little more. Face contours become a bit more defined and skin feels bouncier. On the body, treated areas appear subtly tighter and smoother. Sessions: Usually 6 sessions, about 2–3 weeks apart are recommended for a significant tightening resultdrtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com. Some protocols even do it weekly for 6 weeks. Maintenance could be one session every 3–6 months. The tightening effect builds gradually; many patients report they start seeing improvement after the third or fourth session in the series, with continued gains up to 3 months after the last session as collagen fully matures. Downtime: None. PIANO alone might leave you slightly flushed for an hour or so. There’s no peeling, no bruising, no restrictions. It’s even less eventful than a vigorous facial massage. You may feel the skin is a bit tighter immediately due to temporary collagen contraction (like how hair feels stiffer after heat – similar concept on a microscopic collagen level), but that immediate effect can wear off. The real results are from new collagen and elastin which take weeks to form. We love PIANO for its safety on all skin types and ability to cover large areas quickly. If you’ve ever wished you could just “shrink-wrap” your skin a bit tighter, PIANO mode laser is the closest thing – and you can resume life right after.

Laser Acne & Vascular Treatments
Not all skin concerns involve aging or pigmentation – many of our patients struggle with active acne, acne scars, or vascular issues like redness and visible veins. We have advanced laser solutions to help clear acne and reduce redness safely, giving you a clearer, calmer complexion. These treatments often can complement or even replace medication in some cases, providing a drug-free approach to better skin. Our arsenal includes Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser treatments for acne and rosacea, and a dedicated vascular laser therapy for broken capillaries and veins.
- Laser Acne Therapy (FRAC3 + VERSA mode): This is a special tri-modal laser protocol for acne that uses the Fotona Nd:YAG laser in two modes (sometimes combined with a light peel). We address both active acne breakouts and the redness/inflammation that come with them. How it works: The Nd:YAG laser energy penetrates into the skin to thermally destroy overactive sebaceous glands (which are the root cause of acne) and to kill acne-causing bacteria in the porescomfotona.com. The VERSA mode (standard long-pulse) is excellent for heating the larger sebaceous glands and reducing inflammation across a broader area, while the FRAC3 mode targets smaller “problem” micro-regions like active pustules or early scar tissue. Together, they drastically reduce the acne activity and promote healing. We often also include a mild laser peel or deep cleansing as part of the session to remove surface oil and dead skin. Conditions: Perfect for those with active acne (papules, pustules), cystic acne to some extent, and rosacea-associated acneiform breakouts. It’s also great for acne that hasn’t responded well to topicals – laser can reach deeper. It simultaneously addresses acne and acne marks: as it clears pimples, it also helps fade the post-acne red marks (PIH) and improves skin texture, unlike medications which only stop pimples. Benefits: This laser protocol can lead to significantly reduced acne lesions, shorter breakout duration, and a longer remission between breakoutsinstagram.com. It shrinks sebaceous glands to curb oiliness and future acne formationfotona.com. Additionally, it triggers collagen remodeling which helps flatten existing acne scars and even reduce generalized redness or rosacea flushing over timeinstagram.com. Patients often notice that after a few sessions, active pimples dry out faster and new ones are fewer and far between, and their skin overall looks calmer and smoother. It’s a bit like doing Accutane in a laser form – but without drugs. Another bonus: the laser’s heat can stimulate healing and reduce inflammation, so angry red pimples shrink and soothe more quicklyfotona.com. Sessions: For acne, a series of about 4–6 treatments is typically recommended, done weekly or bi-weekly depending on severity. Many see improvement even after 1–2 sessions (less redness, pimples less swollen), but sticking with the full series yields the best clearing. After the series, maintenance laser sessions once every 2–3 months (or as needed) can help keep acne at bay. Some patients with chronic acne do a short series every year to keep their skin under control. Downtime: Minimal. Just after treatment, the skin will be warm and red (like a moderate sunburn) for a few hours, and very occasionally a treated pimple might look slightly bruised or darker the next day (as bacteria and inflammation are zapped) but this is transient. You won’t peel from the laser itself (unless we did an add-on peel, which would be a light flaking). Overall, you can continue daily activities, maybe just avoiding heavy makeup until the next day and using gentle products. Sometimes, existing pimples might purge a bit – coming to a head quickly – but that’s part of the rapid healing. There is no photosensitivity as with some acne meds, but of course we always advise sunscreen to protect your improving skin. In clinical studies and our experience, laser acne treatments lead to a significant reduction in acne lesions with minimal side effectsfotona.com. It’s a relief for those who have tried many creams – this technology tackles acne from the inside out by targeting sebaceous glands and inflammation directly. If you’re frustrated with breakouts or can’t tolerate acne medications, consider laser therapy. You’ll not only get fewer pimples, but your skin will also start to glow, with old acne marks fading and overall texture refining – a comprehensive win for your complexion.
- Laser Rosacea & Redness Reduction (Nd:YAG VERSA mode): For individuals with rosacea, facial flushing, or visible broken capillaries (telangiectasias), we offer vascular laser treatments primarily using the long-pulse Nd:YAG (1064 nm) in VERSA mode. While Nd:YAG is typically known for deeper vessels (and for hair removal), in skilled hands and with the right settings, it is highly effective for small facial veins and general diffuse redness, especially in patients with skin types III and above who might not be ideal for IPL or pulsed-dye lasers. How it works: The laser light is absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels, heating and damaging the vessel walls, causing them to collapse and eventually be reabsorbed by the bodycomcoastalderminstitute.com. Because the 1064 nm penetrates well, it can treat vessels that are slightly deeper or thicker (like those around the nose) that some other lasers might misscoastalderminstitute.com. We typically trace the laser along visible vessels (like around the nose, cheeks), and also do passes for diffuse redness in rosacea zones. Conditions: Ideal for treating facial spider veins, persistent redness on cheeks/nose (rosacea flush), red acne scars, and even small angiomas. It’s also effective on neck/chest redness in some cases and can help with certain leg veins (though for larger leg varicosities we might recommend other treatments). Benefits: You’ll see progressive clearance of facial veins and a reduction in overall redness, leading to a more even complexion without that constant “red” tone. Broken capillaries shrink or disappear, so those fine red lines on your cheeks or around your nostrils will lighten significantly. Because we can cover a broad area, rosacea sufferers often report fewer flushing episodes and an easier time with triggers after completing treatment. Nd:YAG has the advantage of reaching deeper vessels – some patients who failed IPL for their redness succeed with our approach. Clinical evidence supports that long-pulse Nd:YAG is a safe and effective treatment for common superficial vascular lesionspmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, with the bonus of minimal downtime. Sessions: Vascular issues often need 2–4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart. Small individual veins might vanish after one, but diffuse redness generally improves incrementally – e.g. 50% reduction in redness after 2 sessions, 75-80% after 4, etc. Maintenance once or twice a year may be needed, as rosacea is chronic and new capillaries can form over time. If treating certain angiomas or isolated veins, one session may be enough. Downtime: Low. After treatment, the treated areas will be red (ironic, treating red makes you a bit red temporarily!) and slightly swollen perhaps, for a few hours up to a day. We joke it looks like you had an intense workout or a bit of sun – flushy but not incapacitating. If individual veins were zapped, they can appear a bit darker or like tiny cat scratches for a couple days before fading. Some patients get a small amount of bruising if a larger vessel was treated – this is usually minor and resolves in ~5–7 days (coverable with makeup). Overall, many can return to work the next day with only mild redness that can be camouflagedtrueblueaesthetics.com. There’s minimal discomfort after – maybe a tender feeling on the cheeks that night. We advise avoiding hot beverages, alcohol, exercise for a day or two (to not immediately re-dilate vessels). Over the next weeks, you’ll notice those little veins getting lighter or gone. Patients absolutely love seeing the “broken cap” around their nose disappear, or finally not looking sunburned on their cheeks all the time. It’s liberating to not have to constantly layer green-tinted makeup to hide redness. If you have rosacea, we often combine laser with skincare changes to maximize results. According to studies, modern lasers like Nd:YAG can significantly lessen rosacea’s vascular component with minimal riskveinreliever.com. So, let us help you face the world with confidence and an even tone – no more redness holding you back!
- Vascular Laser for Spider Veins (Long-Pulse Nd:YAG for small veins): In addition to facial redness, our Nd:YAG laser is also used on the body for small spider veins, particularly on the legs or other areas. If you have those tiny purple or red web-like veins (telangiectasias) on thighs or calves, or small clusters of veins, laser can treat them. Benefits: It’s a quick, non-invasive way to shrink those vessels. Studies indicate the 1064 nm Nd:YAG is safe and effective for superficial leg veins, often as an adjunct to sclerotherapy or alone for finer veinscompmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. We typically cool the skin and fire pulses along the length of the vein. Over weeks, the vein fades as the body clears it. Sessions: Leg veins may need 2–3 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart (they fade slower due to gravity and pressure in legs). Downtime: Possibly a bit of bruising or a cat-scratch look on the vein line, and mild soreness – similar to a bruise – for a few days. Compression stockings might be recommended for a couple of days to assist healing. But you can walk and resume normal life, just avoid hot baths and heavy exercise for ~2 dayslaserandhealthacademy.com. Many clients do these treatments in cooler months to be ready for shorts weather with improved legs. Combined with our other services, we can really address head-to-toe vascular concerns.
Encouragement: If you’ve been battling breakouts or blushing at the wrong times, our laser therapies could be your solution. Imagine stepping out with clearer skin, no persistent pimples or redness – just a balanced complexion. These treatments not only tackle the immediate issue (zapping bacteria, sealing off veins) but also improve your skin’s long-term health (stimulating collagen, normalizing oil production). All this with minimal downtime and without systemic medications. Laser treatments for acne and vascular issues have high satisfaction rates – our patients often say it’s the best decision they made after years of frustration with creams and pills. Let us help you regain confidence in your skin. Book a consultation, and we’ll tailor a plan – perhaps pairing lasers with a calming facial or proper skincare – to calm the storm in your skin. You deserve to face the world with clear, even-toned skin that lets your true self shine, not your skin problems.
Laser Skin Resurfacing (Fractional & Full-Field Ablative)
When it comes to rejuvenating the skin’s surface – addressing deep wrinkles, prominent scars, or extensive sun damage – nothing is as powerful as laser skin resurfacing. Our clinic provides advanced Er:YAG laser resurfacing treatments with variable settings (using Fotona’s innovative handpieces like the F-Runner scanner) to precisely remove damaged skin layers and stimulate fresh, healthy skin growth. This category of treatments is more intensive than the “peel” or “light laser” options mentioned earlier, but also yields the most dramatic improvements in skin texture and tone. We tailor the depth of resurfacing to your needs: Spot treatments, Light, Medium, or Deep resurfacing. This way, you get just the right balance of results and downtime you are comfortable with.
- Spot Laser Resurfacing: Sometimes a full-face treatment isn’t necessary – you might have one or two trouble areas (like a deep acne scar, a stubborn wrinkle, or a small patch of pigmentation). In such cases, we can perform highly precise spot laser resurfacing. Conditions: For example, a single acne icepick scar or surgical scar, a deep wrinkle between the brows or around the lips, or a small patch of actinic keratosis/sun damage. How it works: Using a focused laser beam or a small spot fractional handpiece, we ablate only the targeted spot to a controlled depth, essentially resurfacing that locale. Benefits: By treating just the spot, we achieve maximum improvement there without subjecting the rest of the face to downtime. A deep pitted scar can be largely smoothed out – often we’ll see a noticeable leveling after one treatment (like a scar that was an “8” on a 1–10 depth scale might become a “4”). A persistent wrinkle can be softened by removing the overlying dead skin and prompting new collagen to fill in the line. Sessions: Occasionally one spot treatment does the job (especially for a scar – some may need 2 spaced a few months apart). For isolated pigmentation, one session can often fully remove it. Downtime: Localized downtime. The treated spot will form a scab if deep or raw skin if shallow. Expect that area to look like a scrape or scab for about 5–7 days, then pink for a bit longer. For instance, if we deeply ablate a scar, you’ll have a raw small circle that crusts over and heals similarly to if you had a scrape. Surrounding skin might be mildly red. You keep it clean and moist until healed. The rest of your face is fine. This is easy to conceal with a band-aid or makeup after a few days. Many patients find this very tolerable – it’s a way to fix a pesky spot without taking time off. Once healed, the spot’s improvement will be evident, and further blending with adjacent skin continues as pinkness fades over a few weeks. We often do spot treatments as a “test” before a full face, or for those who only have one major concern. It’s precise, quick, and effective – a small intervention for a big improvement in quality of life (imagine not seeing that scar that’s bugged you every day).
- Light Laser Resurfacing (Full-face or large area): This is an ablative resurfacing that removes the epidermis and some superficial dermis in a controlled, gentle manner. We typically use a fractional or full-field Er:YAG with settings for a light peel depth (~4–6 microns ablation per pass). Conditions: Great for treating fine lines, superficial scars, mild to moderate sun damage (like sunspots), and generally refreshing the skin’s texture beyond what a peel can do. If you have early wrinkles or just want to reset your skin’s surface with a short downtime, this is ideal. Benefits: Light resurfacing can achieve in one session what multiple peels might – you’ll get a brighter, smoother, more even skin surface. Fine lines (like around the eyes or mouth) will soften; the overall skin tone will even out as pigmented spots are peeled away layer by layer. Pores often appear smaller because the outer damaged rings of them are removed. Skin also tends to be very soft and reflective after healing, because of the new, baby-skin that’s come up. It’s often said that light laser resurfacing can take “5 years off” the appearance by erasing the minor photodamage accrued. It’s also a good maintenance procedure for someone who had deeper resurfacing in the past and just wants to touch up yearly. Sessions: Often one session is sufficient to get the desired result for a while. Some patients do a light laser peel every 1–2 years to keep stimulating renewal. Others might do two sessions spaced a few months apart if they have a bit more to correct but want to avoid a medium or deep single session. Downtime: As discussed before in patterned peel (they overlap), about 3–5 days of social downtime. Right after, skin is red and feels sunburned. By day 2–3, it starts to flaky/peel – you’ll see light sheets of skin coming offcom. You must keep it moisturized; it can itch slightly as it heals. By day 5 or so, you’re usually done peeling, and left with fresh pink skin. The pinkness can be covered with makeup easily at that point, or even earlier with physician approval. Pinkness itself might persist a bit (maybe ~1 week of pink). Because this is typically a full-face treatment, you will look strange during peeling days – we advise planning on staying home or working from home for at least 3 days. Many patients schedule on a Thursday or Friday and are presentable by Monday or Tuesday for work (some still pink but okay with makeup). The results after a week make it worthwhile: patients love running their fingers over their “new” skin – it’s like silk. And improvements continue as the collagen stimulated during healing contracts and firms the skin over 1–3 months. Light resurfacing is one of the most gratifying treatments because it’s relatively quick and the glow it gives is often unparalleled. We ensure you’re equipped with the right post-care to speed healing (gentle cleanser, ointment, etc.), so your experience is as smooth as possible.
- Medium Laser Resurfacing: This is a moderate-depth ablative laser treatment that goes further into the dermis for more significant correction. We might use multiple passes of Er:YAG or a fractional high-density approach to achieve about ~50 microns or more of ablation (up to 100 microns in spots). Conditions: Ideal for moderate to deep wrinkles (for example, etched crow’s feet or smoker’s lines), prominent dyschromia (lots of sunspots/freckles), and acne scarring that is beyond what light resurfacing can fix. It’s often chosen by patients in their late 40s–60s who want a real skin rejuvenation but without the extreme downtime of the deepest lasers. Benefits: Medium resurfacing can dramatically improve wrinkles – often erasing fine lines and significantly reducing deeper creasescom.aunoosaskinstudio.com.au. It wipes out many brown spots and sun damage, revealing evenly-toned skin. Acne scars are visibly softened, sometimes by 50% or more in one go. It also yields a notable tightening effect – by removing the outer layers and heating the dermis, collagen production is robustly stimulated, so over the months after, the skin becomes firmer and more elastic. Patients frequently comment that their skin looks “rejuvenated and younger” – pores are smaller, tone is uniform, and wrinkles are far less apparent. In many respects, it can give results approaching an aggressive CO2 laser, but Er:YAG has a slightly gentler healing profile (less risk of prolonged redness or hypo-pigmentation in skilled hands). Sessions: Typically one session gives significant change. A second could be done 6–12 months later for further improvement if needed (for example, very deep acne scars might do two medium-depth resurfacings). However, most people do one and then maintain with lighter treatments in subsequent years. Downtime: Considerable, but shorter than deep ablative. Immediately post-procedure, your face will be raw and oozing serous fluid (we apply dressing or ointment). The first 2–3 days, expect significant swelling (especially around eyes – often peaking at day 2), redness, and oozing. You’ll need to do gentle soaks and keep the skin greasy with ointment. By day 3–4, a bronze crust or sheet forms as the exudate dries – this is the old skin separating. It starts flaking off in pieces around days 4–5. From days 5–7, you’ll shed most of this, unveiling new skin beneath. By about day 7 or 8, you generally have fully peeled, but will be bright pink underneathrealself.com. Redness can be pronounced but is a “good” healthy sign of new skin. You can usually start wearing makeup at this one-week mark to cover the redness. The pinkness itself can persist for several weeks (up to 4–6 weeks is common for medium-depth), gradually fading to normal skin tone. During that pink phase, you’ll appear like you have a sunburn – which some might not mind, but it’s generally mild enough to venture out with makeup by 7–10 days. So in summary, plan for ~1 week away from public/social obligations (or working from home), then another few weeks of just rosy complexion. Strict sun avoidance and proper wound care are crucial during recovery to ensure optimal results and avoid complications. We guide you every step of the way, with follow-ups to check healing. Results timeframe: Once initial healing is done (~1–2 weeks), you already see a night-and-day improvement in surface issues – spots gone, wrinkles reduced drastically. Over the next 1–3 months, as collagen rebuilds, you’ll notice continued firming and smoothing. Patients often stop using as much foundation or concealer because their bare skin looks so much better. Medium resurfacing can be thought of as a “laser reset” for your skin – shedding the old, sun-damaged canvas and revealing a fresh one.
- Deep Laser Resurfacing: This is the most aggressive option – an intensive ablative laser treatment that can approach or match traditional CO2 laser depths. We perform deep resurfacing when someone has severe wrinkles (like deep smokers’ lines, heavy etched crow’s feet), extensive sun damage or precancerous lesions, or severe acne scarring and desires a one-time dramatic improvement. Using the Er:YAG (possibly in Turbo mode or multiple passes) we can ablate up to ~200 microns or more, essentially removing a substantial portion of the epidermis and dermis in a controlled fashion. Benefits: Deep resurfacing can yield phenomenal results – it’s the closest thing to a surgical skin rejuvenation. Deep wrinkles can be 90% erased in many casescom. Deep acne scars can level out significantly. The skin that regrows will be much tighter, smoother, and younger-looking. Many patients appear 10+ years younger after full healing from deep resurfacing. It also treats actinic keratoses and sun damage effectively by literally vaporizing damaged cells – a health benefit as well as cosmetic. Sessions: One. This is usually a one-off procedure given its intensity. Some may do it again many years later if needed, but it’s not commonly repeated in short order. Downtime: Significant. Deep resurfacing is akin to experiencing a controlled second-degree burn on the face. Immediately after, the face will be very raw, bleeding and oozing. We sometimes keep the patient in clinic for a bit or use special dressings. The swelling is pronounced (eyes may swell shut for a day or two). For the first ~3–4 days, expect heavy oozing and crusting; strict wound care is needed (soaks, vinegar water, etc.). Pain is managed with medication and cool compresses, but the initial days can be uncomfortable. By day 4–5, the oozing lessens as a yellowish wet crust covers the area. Around days 7–10, the majority of crusts come off, and fresh red skin is visiblefeinsteindermatology.com. At this point, you’re through the worst – but you’ll be extremely red. Redness of deep resurfacing can take a long time to fully fade, often 6–8 weeks of noticeable redness, and slight pinkness up to 3–4 months in some. During the first 2 weeks, you absolutely cannot be in public (barring maybe a quick, covered trip to the doctor). After that, you may venture out with strong makeup (camouflage cosmetics) but must avoid sun exposure strictly. By 2–3 weeks, many people are okay resuming work with makeup, though coworkers will likely notice the redness. By 6 weeks, the redness usually subsides enough that makeup can fully cover it and you look essentially normal to others. It’s a journey, but the transformation is remarkable. Modern advancements (like fractional techniques) have slightly reduced the need for full-field deep treatments, but for the right candidate, a deep full resurfacing can eliminate the deepest lines in one godrdavinlim.com. We ensure thorough pre- and post-care: antivirals (to prevent cold sore flare), antibiotics possibly, and skincare to prepare and then help heal (Retin-A, hydroquinone pre; growth factors post, etc.). This is the ultimate laser treatment, and while not everyone needs it, those who do are often astounded by how much younger their skin looks afterwards. Essentially, deep resurfacing wipes the slate clean – the sun damage of decades, gone in one fell swoop. The commitment to downtime and aftercare is significant, but so are the results.
Encouragement: Laser resurfacing is the gold standard for skin rejuvenation because of the dramatic improvements it can achieve. It’s understandable to be nervous about the idea of downtime, but our team will support you throughout the healing process, and the payoff – seeing your face with far fewer lines, scars, or spots – is truly life-changing for many. During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin and help you decide which level of resurfacing aligns with your goals and lifestyle. Even the lighter options can yield impressive refreshment, while the deeper ones can essentially reverse time on your skinmichelegreenmd.com. We use the latest technology to maximize results and safety (Er:YAG lasers allow very controlled ablation with typically quicker recovery than old CO2 lasersrealself.com). Our goal is to deliver significant improvement with as little downtime as necessary, and to make your recovery as comfortable as possible with proper guidance and follow-up. Imagine looking in the mirror at smooth, even, radiant skin – the skin you thought you could only wish for. With laser resurfacing, that vision can become reality. If you’re ready for a true transformation of your skin, let’s discuss a resurfacing plan. Many patients say they wish they had done it sooner once they see how gorgeous their results are. Turn the page to a new chapter of youthful skin – we’ll be with you every step of the way!
Laser Scar Revision & Lesion Removal
Scars and unwanted skin lesions (like benign growths) can be sources of self-consciousness. Our clinic offers precise laser treatments to minimize scars – making them flatter, softer, and less noticeable – and to remove benign lesions such as skin tags, seborrheic keratoses, and other bumps, giving you smoother skin. These procedures are typically quick and done under local anesthesia (for lesions) or with topical numbing (for scars), with minimal downtime relative to the improvement gained.
- Laser Scar Revision: Scars come in many forms – acne scars, surgical scars, trauma scars – and lasers can help improve almost all of them. We utilize a combination of fractional and ablative laser techniques (often with the Er:YAG or a fractional handpiece) to resurface the scar tissue and stimulate new collagen. Conditions: Raised scars (hypertrophic), depressed scars (atrophic), and even red, pigmented scars can all be treated. For example, acne pock marks, a C-section surgical scar, or a scar from an injury can all be revised. How it works: The laser light ablates the scar tissue and triggers collagen remodeling in the areacomvirdenmd.com. We often use fractional laser passes to break down the thick, disorganized collagen in the scar and create micro-channels that heal with new, more elastic tissue. For raised scars, we may plane them down (ablate the excess tissue) to make them level with surrounding skin. For discoloration, the laser removes pigmented cells and vascular laser can reduce redness. Benefits: After a series of treatments, scars can become flatter, smoother in texture, and closer in color to surrounding skinvirdenmd.comvirdenmd.com. For example, indented acne scars will shallow out as collagen fills them from beneath, and raised scars will shrink and become suppler. Red scars turn pale as vessels are eliminated, and dark scars lighten. Laser scar revision won’t typically erase a scar 100%, but it can dramatically improve its appearance, often making it barely noticeable to othersvirdenmd.comvirdenmd.com. This can restore confidence, especially for scars on the face or other visible areas. An added benefit is improved function in some cases – for example, if a scar was tight and limiting movement (contracture), softening it can improve flexibility. Sessions: Multiple sessions (3–6) are usually needed, spaced about 4–8 weeks apartnorthsidedermatology.com.auvirdenmd.com. The number depends on the scar’s age, size, and type. Acne scars might need around 3 fractional laser sessions. A surgical scar revision might take 2–3 sessions of ablative lasing. Each treatment builds on the last – collagen gradually remodels the scar with each hit. Downtime: Mild to moderate (depends on depth): After a laser scar treatment, the area will typically be red and a bit swollen for a few daysvirdenmd.com. If we did deeper ablation, it might form a scab or raw surface that heals over ~5–7 days (similar to spot resurfacing described earlier). We’ll advise specific care (keep it moist, covered if on body, etc.). Redness can persist for a couple of weeks as the new skin forms, but makeup can usually cover it after the initial healing (~day 5 onward). For fractional treatments, you might just have grid-like tiny scabs that flake in 3–4 days. Importantly, the downtime is localized to the scar site – a small scar has a small area of effect. Many people continue their routine, just putting a bandage or using concealer on the scar. Over the course of treatments, you’ll see the scar flatten and blend in more and more. According to dermatology references, laser scar revision leads to significant cosmetic improvement with minimal downtime and risksvirdenmd.comvirdenmd.com – which we have certainly observed in our practice. It’s very rewarding to watch a scar fade from a prominent mark to a faint memory on the skin.
- Benign Lesion Removal (Laser Surgery): Skin is prone to developing various benign growths over time – such as skin tags, seborrheic keratoses (those waxy “age spots”), warts, milia, fibromas, and more. While harmless, they can be cosmetically bothersome or irritating. We offer removal of these lesions using laser ablation or excision in a quick, virtually bloodless manner. How it works: After numbing the area with a tiny bit of local anesthetic (for most lesions), we use a focused laser beam to precisely vaporize or cut away the lesion. The laser cauterizes as it cuts, so there is minimal bleedingcomalpinefoot.com. The energy can be adjusted to only target the lesion and not deeply penetrate, preserving surrounding skin as much as possible. What to expect: The procedure is usually very quick – a few seconds to a couple minutes per lesion. For example, to remove a skin tag, we’d numb it, then zap it off at the base, leaving a small superficial wound. For a seborrheic keratosis, we’d gently laser across it to evaporate it layer by layer until it’s gone, revealing fresh skin beneath. Because we use laser, the risk of infection is low (the heat sanitizes the area)alpinefoot.com, and we can often get away without stitches (for small lesions), unlike traditional excision. Benefits: You get an instant removal of the unwanted bump or lesion. If it’s a skin tag catching on clothing, it’s gone and won’t bother you again. If it’s an age spot or thick keratosis, you trade it for a flat area that will heal over with new skin. The cosmetic outcome is generally very good – laser removal tends to leave minimal scarring especially for small lesions, often just a flat, pink spot that fades over time. This is far more appealing than the raised brown spot or tag that was there. Sessions: Usually one session is all that’s needed per lesion. Sometimes multiple lesions can be removed in one appointment (e.g., 5 skin tags at once). If you have dozens of lesions (like many seborrheic keratoses), we might stage the removals over a few visits for comfort and healing reasons. Downtime: Minor. Post-procedure, the treated site will form a small scab. The area around might be a bit red. We advise keeping it clean and applying ointment. The scab typically falls off in about 1–2 weeks, depending on size and location. For tiny lesions, it might only be a few days of a scab. While it’s healing, you’ll care for it like a small scrape – no picking, avoid direct sun (to prevent darkening), and possibly cover with a bandage if in a high-friction area. Pain is minimal; usually it’s just a bit tender on day 1, easily managed with OTC analgesic if needed. Once healed, there may be a pink mark that fades over a few more weeks. We usually see patients back at 6–8 weeks to ensure good healing. In most cases, the skin blends in very well with surrounding tissue after a couple of monthsvirdenmd.com, leaving either an imperceptible mark or a slight pale area. The relief of having the lesion gone usually far outweighs any minor mark left. And because these were benign, there’s typically no further treatment needed – lesion unlikely to recur (except warts, which have a small recurrence chance, but our laser wart treatments boast high clearance ratesbhskin.com). With lasers, there’s also less risk of scarring than with surgical excision for these minor lesions, because we aren’t cutting the skin broadly or needing stitches. You can essentially erase these little imperfections quickly and be done with them.
Encouragement: You don’t have to “just live” with scars or lumps and bumps that bother you. Modern laser technology gives us the tools to refine and remove these imperfections with precision. Think about running your finger over smooth skin where a scar or bump used to be – that is the outcome we strive for. Patients who undergo scar revisions often tell us they feel a weight lifted, as they no longer constantly see that reminder of acne or injury. Those who get lesions removed are thrilled to have clear skin and not worry about irritation or cosmetics catching on them. These are relatively simple procedures with a big impact on quality of life and confidence. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate the scar or lesion in question, discuss expected improvements, and make sure you have realistic expectations (completely erasing a scar may not be possible, but significantly improving it is!). Our goal is for your skin to look as clear and even as possible, so that nothing distracts from your natural beauty. If a particular scar or skin growth has been bothering you, let’s address it. With skilled laser application and proper aftercare, we can achieve beautiful results. Schedule an appointment and take the first step to smoother skin – these minor procedures could make a major difference in how you feel. Your skin’s story is still being written; we’re here to help edit out the unwanted bits.
Specialized Medical Laser Treatments
Our laser offerings go beyond aesthetics – we also provide advanced laser therapies for certain medical dermatology needs, specifically in the realms of women’s intimate health and persistent viral lesions like warts. These treatments harness laser technology to improve health and quality of life in areas that can be sensitive to discuss but are surprisingly common. As always, our approach is professional, discreet, and focused on patient comfort and results.
- Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (Fotona IntimaLase® & IncontiLase®): Childbirth, aging, and hormonal changes (like menopause) can lead to vaginal laxity (looseness), stress urinary incontinence (bladder leaks when coughing/jumping), and vaginal dryness or irritation. Our Fotona SP Dynamis laser includes a special Fotona SMOOTH® mode Er:YAG laser for gynecological treatments. We perform two main procedures:
- IntimaLase®: for vaginal tightening and improved sexual satisfaction.
- IncontiLase®: for stress urinary incontinence (mild to moderate).
- Often these conditions overlap, and the treatment protocol is similar, so we refer to it generally as “gynecological laser rejuvenation.” How it works: We insert a specially designed laser handpiece into the vaginal canal. The laser delivers controlled, non-ablative thermal pulses 360° around the vaginal wall. This heat triggers collagen remodeling and new collagen synthesis in the vaginal mucosa and pelvic floor tissuescom. Over a course of treatments, this leads to firming and tightening of the vaginal canal (narrowing it)fotona.comdrtorgerson.com, increased tissue elasticity, and better support to the urethra (addressing incontinence). Additionally, the treatment improves lubrication and thickness of the vaginal lining, helping with atrophic symptoms. Importantly, it’s incisionless and painless – no surgery, no cutting. Benefits: For IntimaLase, studies show a significant improvement in vaginal tightness that enhances sexual gratification for both partnersfotona.com. Patients report increased friction, better sensation, and more confidence during intercourse after completing treatment. For IncontiLase, about 70-80% of women see a notable reduction or complete stop in urine leakagedrtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com – meaning no more embarrassing drips when laughing or exercising. Many women can avoid or postpone surgical bladder sling procedures by doing this instead. For dryness and irritation (similar concept to RenovaLase for GSM), women often experience less vaginal dryness, less burning, and better natural lubrication after laser therapy, as the healthier mucosa produces more moisture. Overall, these laser treatments can greatly improve quality of life – enhancing intimate wellness and restoring a sense of youthfulness in the vaginal area. One of the greatest advantages is that this is achieved without any incisions, anesthesia, or lengthy recoverydrtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com. Sessions: Typically 2 sessions (sometimes 3) are recommended, spaced about 4–6 weeks apartdrritasharma.comdrtorgerson.com. Many patients notice some improvement even a few weeks after the first treatment (e.g., fewer leaks), but the second treatment reinforces the results. A maintenance session 12–18 months later can prolong benefits, as aging will continue. Downtime: Virtually none. This is a 15–20 minute outpatient proceduredrtorgerson.com, no sedation needed. During treatment, you feel a warming sensation internally, but it’s very tolerable and quick. Afterwards, you might have some mild warmth or a feeling of “something happened” in that area, but typically no pain. We advise refraining from sexual intercourse, tampon use, pools/saunas for about 5–7 days just to let the tissue optimally heal without irritation. You might notice a slight watery discharge for a day or two as the laser effect causes some mild shedding of old cells. There’s no bleeding, no open wounds, and thus essentially no downtime – you can go back to your normal daily activities immediatelydrtorgerson.com. Many women do this over a lunch break or come in on a Friday and are back to routine right away. Compared to surgical alternatives (which involve weeks of recovery), this is amazingly easy. Also, because there’s no systemic effect, it’s safe for women who can’t take estrogen (for dryness) or don’t want surgery for incontinence. The success rate is high and patient satisfaction is very high, with clinical studies and our own patients attesting to significant improvements in symptoms and quality of lifedrtorgerson.comdrtorgerson.com. If these intimate issues are affecting you, you shouldn’t feel embarrassed – they are extremely common, and we are here with a state-of-the-art solution. Our female staff can be available for your comfort if preferred. Many patients say that after IntimaLase/IncontiLase, they feel “like themselves” again – free to sneeze or exercise without fear, and enjoying intimate moments without frustration. It’s a gentle, empowering treatment to restore feminine wellness.
- Laser Wart Treatment: Stubborn warts – especially plantar warts on feet or periungal warts near nails – can be very hard to clear with conventional methods (freezing, topical acids). We offer laser wart removal using either the Er:YAG ablative laser or the long-pulse Nd:YAG depending on the case. How it works: For small warts, we often do ablative removal under local numbing – literally vaporizing the wart tissue and destroying the virus-infected cells. For larger areas or mosaic warts, we might do Nd:YAG non-ablative passes which heat and kill the virus and cut off blood supply to the wart. Both approaches have shown very high efficacy – lasers can reach deeper than topical treatments and avoid the collateral damage of excessive freezing. Benefits: Laser wart treatment typically results in higher clearance rates and lower recurrence compared to traditional methodscom. It’s one of the best options for warts that haven’t responded to other therapy. After laser treatment, the wart tissue is destroyed – you often see immediate change (wart turns white/gray and is essentially gone or will slough off) or it might form a blister and fall off shortly afterbhskin.combhskin.com. Because lasers can precisely target the wart, surrounding skin is spared significant damage, resulting in potentially less scarring than aggressive freezing or surgical excision. Also, as mentioned before, the laser sterilizes as it goes (heat kills virus)bhskin.combhskin.com, so the risk of spreading the wart during treatment is minimized – our team still uses full precautions, but it’s comforting to know. For plantar warts, laser can get deeper under the thick skin of soles, leading to better outcomes and faster relief of pain from those warts. Sessions: Often, 1–2 laser sessions are enough to eliminate a wartbhskin.com. Some resilient warts may need a follow-up session if a bit was left or if there are multiple lesions. We space them about 4 weeks apart. Many patients who have tried months of other treatments are surprised that one laser treatment does the trick. Downtime: Moderate, locally. After ablative laser removal, you will have a wound where the wart was, essentially similar to having it surgically removed. If on the foot, you’ll need to keep it clean, bandaged, and maybe reduce pressure for a couple days (so no long runs immediately). It generally heals within 1–2 weeks, similar to any small cauterized woundbhskin.combhskin.com. Pain is usually mild – far less than the pain of the wart itself in many cases – and can be managed with OTC pain relievers on day 1 if needed. If we used Nd:YAG non-ablatively, you might get a blister or some bruising on the wart site which resolves over a week or sobhskin.com. In both cases, the area will scab and then new skin will replace the wart, ideally with minimal scarring. We will give you aftercare instructions (similar to post-minor surgery: keep area covered, no picking the scab, etc.). Another point: whereas other treatments often require you to come for many visits, laser reduces that burden – just be mindful to let it heal and come to the follow-up to ensure it’s fully gone. According to medical literature and our own experience, laser wart removal offers excellent outcomes – clearance rates can be 70–90+% after one treatment for many patientsbhskin.compmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Compare that to drugstore methods that might have single-digit success for entrenched warts. If you have a persistent wart, especially on weight-bearing areas or around nails, laser therapy could be the solution that finally “blasts” it away for good. Patients are so relieved to be rid of these unsightly and sometimes painful lesions. It’s important to treat warts thoroughly because they are contagious (to self and others); laser gives you a fast track to that end. Our team will also advise on strategies to avoid new HPV infections and support your immune system to keep warts from coming back. We combine effectiveness with education, so you leave healthy and empowered.
